It is definitely a good textbook for technical analysis course. In fact, I have been using it for my class. In particular, it covers the application of wavelets in forecasting, a good tool for good math students. In the coming editions, the authors may consider the possibility of adding a few questions/exercises at the end of each chapter.

About the Author

Arthur Vincie has over fifteen years of film and television production experience as a line producer, producer, and director. Vincie has line produced or production managed numerous independent films and is very active in the New York City independent filmmaking community. He has done production work for major television networks, including NBC, ABC, and BBC America. He founded and currently runs Chaotic Sequence Inc., a company that produces shorts and features. He recently wrote and directed the feature film Found in Time, which won the Best Sci-Fi Feature at the 2012 Shriekfest Sci-Fi/Horror film festival.

I recommend this book to any filmmaker thinking of making an independent feature. Having heard Arthur Vincie speak in person about the process he goes through when he produces, writes and directs his own movies, I was looking forward to reading it, with the hope that it would contain the same incredibly useful information I've heard him discuss in person. It does, covering every step of the process in detail, from scripting and pre-production, through production and distribution. And, while there are other books on the subject available, what sets this one apart is how well it explains the balance between the artistic process the writer/director goes through, and the practical decisions the producer has to consider, especially when working low budget. Vincie shows how the two effect each other and then offers a lot of creative solutions for dealing with limited resources without compromising your artistic vision.

I've read most her work

I haven't actually read this book, but I've read loads of Royer's work. She's amazing. My favorite poet. She's so honest and she captures the feelings she writes about so flawlessly. She writes what many can't put into words. How it feels to love, how it feels to lose, and how it feels to be broken. She's amazing. You can't go wrong with her.

So basically I'm going to carry this book with me everywhere i go and reread it five thousand times. Meggie is one of the most beautiful, talented people I've come across. Her poetry is the kind that sinks into your skin and stays there, or wraps itself around you like a blanket. I'm so happy she finally got published!

This was a nice art book to read and I rarely read art books, I just buy them for inspirational pictures of art. Debora Stewart's words were helpful. I have been painting abstractly for years but it has always felt more stressful than I think it should. Her ideas and suggestions have been helpful in making my painting practice less stressful and more intuitive and honest. I bought the kindle version. My complaint with that version is that while I can change the size of the print I can not change the size of the artwork and so all of Debora Stewart's lovely work is shown in a small thumbnail size on my tablet. She does beautiful work and I would have liked to seen the examples larger and in more detail. My one suggestion to Ms. Stewart is that she expands her own color palette, she does love her oranges and purples and they are in every one of her examples. Her work is very distinctive due to her palette so I recognize it anywhere. If you want to see larger examples of her work you will have to go to her website and Pinterest. I do think this book would be useful for anyone starting out with abstract work or for artists who want to gain more enjoyment and freedom with their abstract work. This book does not do example projects in a step by step fashion so that you end up creating a piece just like the artist's which I think is not the point of abstract art, instead you learn steps toward making your own artwork. Problems reading comfortably due to poor printing choices!

If your eyes are aging or you don't have a strong light source, you will likely be unable to read this book, at least comfortably. Even if you do, I can't imagine it will be much fun, given I could barely see the fine light gray print, and didn't have a lighted magnifier handy. The text was poorly done. Too bad, since I like the artist's work.
