Khanyi Mbau, the notorious South African socialite, bling queen gold digger and diva who is not afraid of expressing herself, no matter how many people she offends. However, behind that is strong willed, go getter who is not afraid to get what she wants. At age 19 she got involved with wealthy millionaire, Mandla Mthembu. He's twice her age and when she got pregnant, they got married in a traditional Zulu ceremony. They looked happy, spending their days and nights spending money and going on vacations. Behind the facade was tumultuous relationship, ignited even further when they discover that their unborn child was a girl, not the son he wished for. That story and more in the book.

The story was shallow, bland and not as in depth as hoped for. It's more like a giant tabloid news article..but makes a good read if you are into gossip or a Khanyi Mbau fan. I didn't love it or hate it, so hence the "average" rating

Finished it in 24 hrs very interesting read for a biography didn't want to put it down. It's good to hear every side of the story.

These show that every Hebrew verb tense or aspect has a natural home in certain types of discourse, and when that form is used elsewhere than its natural context, it marks some special point. This book helps Bible translators and newcomers to Hebrew studies toward a well-grounded understanding of the functions of verb forms, while challenging advanced specialists to reassess and refine their understanding of biblical Hebrew texts. Robert Longacre (Ph.D., Pennsylvania, 1955) has pioneered discourse research in modern languages and in biblical languages. His more than 150 publications include The Grammar of Discourse, Joseph: A Story of Divine Providence, Holistic Discourse Analysis (SIL), and discourse-theoretic analyses of the Genesis flood narrative and other texts in the Pentateuch and poetic books. Andrew C. Bowling (Ph.D., Brandeis, 1962) has taught in Lebanon and the USA, including 30 years at John Brown University and teaching Hebrew for 20 years. His publications include commentaries on four Old Testament books and papers on discourse analysis of Old Testament texts.

The material I have read so far is exactly what I was needing for my study. I was at a standstill on interpreting a key Old Testament verse. I did my internet search and found helpful articles. I noticed that the name "Longacre" was frequently referenced. Since Mr. Longacre died this early part of the year, I could not converse with him personally about this particular verse setting. As such, I am more than willing to wade through the over 600 pages written by Mr. Longacre and Mr. Bowling. This book is well worth wadding through the details. This book is a great place to start developing categories of thought to reach a place of real personal capacity to interpret the Hebrew narrative for one's own self.
My only negative was that the 3rd page was totally free from the binding glue. I did contact the publisher. I was not giving up my copy for a return because of only one page. The book gets a five star rating from me. Glue solved this minor annoyance.

Taking it to the next level!!

I was lucky enough to go to the 2 day Original Strength seminar this year. This book brings together the second day of the seminar in a way that is approachable and accessible to people of all ages. The daily use of resets has allowed me to be active with my kids on a daily basis. Every couple of days I throw in the Original Strength Performance exercises to super charge my day.

Good follow up to Original Strength!

If you have read the authors previous books like Original Strength or Pressing Reset than this book is a good supplement.

Like the previous books, it is well written and simple to understand. But the biggest effect is if you actually implement and practice the resets and how you benefit.

I was introduced to these resets back in 2011, and they assisted in an strenuous athletic challenge that I was participating in.

However, it's the daily use of the resets that provide the most powerful results.

The basic resets can range from non-taxing to strenuous.

With the information in this book, you will have the knowledge to make it into an intense training regime.

If you want a training program that will make you stronger, help you burn body fat, and be still low impact, and plain develop quality movement patterns, there aren't many programs better.

The Perfect Progression to Original Strength

These guys did exactly what the title says...they took the simplicity and brilliance of Original Strength and gave us the performance angle of the system. I've been using these loaded resets for 3-4 months now and it's helped me first and formost feel great, but it's also made it easier to achieve other goals that I've set. I would recommend anyone interested in a healthy, well balanced body to invest in this series of books. Original strength is the starting point but once you have spent some time getting comfortable with the unloaded resets it's time for Original Strength Preformance. Great work guys!

you have no vision of jazz piano until you see the Solo, away from the group who's keepeen the beat, and laying down the bass for you, this just frees you up a bit, Monk created his greea-test solos in the group, all those spiky chords, Ab-D-G, or cd-Ab-Db,also the suspension(S) of the beat attest to his interest in expanding what we call music, But if you've never heard Solo you really haven't heard anything, Also Cecil Taylor, needs a review of Solo, what he creates, the bonfires he sets with the Solo Piano,

But Monk equally did Solo Work,n'had a way of practicing, taking only one song and playing it for hours, to see what was in it, He did this with all the tunes here, and I guess you can say that what is here was the best reading of possibly I don't know 10 different reading of each tune. Still you get the interesting dimensions of what Monk could do with harmonies, and chords,-flatted and sharped 5ths and Ninths, is where the tension comes from, in a Blues progression you need to sharp the Ninth, as in C-Major, Tonic Chord is now E-Bb-D#, and F-Chord, is F-A-B-Eb, greet stuff.When he Went Solo he kept the traditional stride Left Hand, something if you look for it in group Work it remains but, He began to use his Left Hand in the Group as rhythm as percussion products, with cluster chords, even in "Bright Mississippi", he uses his whole arm for accents.

My favorite here is "everything happens to me", sums up the state of the globe now for us down here, you can play this over and over again and still find different voices between the hands, I found myself developing from what is written out, and it is fairly faithful to the recording, well one of them in that Monk always took multiple taks on all the Tunes herein. "Don't Blame me" as well, has great dissonances, that you can develop even more, and the classic now, "just a gigolo', who would think this Vegas tune could be made into a classic, but again the dissonances are incredible, it lives forever because of the unresolved tensions you have here;and there are more hesitations in Live than in the transcription; I found that you can really make your own half hour solos from what is written here, and apply the chords in and around the other tunes, like a paradigm that lives throughout all the tunes herein.There are other more strenuus as "devil and Deep Blue Sea", difficult to bring off, and Gershwin's "Liza" you really need to work with vision. . . This is the best book I've found thus far on Monk or any jazz transcriptions, the other are too skeletle,too obvious to do you any good, if you really want to learnnn jazz. But please listen to Monk play without the music first, and bring that experience internally inside yourself, then you can go and play from this Book. . . it will change the way you think about music. . .

Close to the real deal

With all transcriptions it is difficult to know from which recording they are transcribed. The book is at least a great starting point for those of us that are striving to understand his style. These are solo piano transcriptions so they do not translate well into trio work. Would recommend this book to any serious student of Monk.
