About the Author

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso was born in Tibet and is a fully accomplished meditation master, and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism. Reading This Book Can Change Your Life!

After I read "Living Meaningfully....." I was even more thankful that I have this human life and I understand more fully what my responsibilities are in the world. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has written many books, and I have read almost all of them, but this is by far my favorite. Geshla brings the most difficult things for the western mind to comprehend right into our consciousness in a practical way. With clear and understandable language The Author takes us step by step through the process of death and rebirth and he then tells us how to live and die, both without the resounding fear that can grip us as we journey through samsara. To expound here on what the author reveals about the joy of life and how to find and maintain that joy would be unfair. You should read the book for yourself and like me, you may read it over and over again. At the end of the book are prayers to Avalokitesvara, The Bodhisattva of Compassion. You can sense His/Her presence when you recite the Avalokitesvara mantra. There is also a service for the dead and for those who are dying at the back of the book. Geshla couldn't have given the wonderful gift to the world at a more important time.

This book was very helpful when my grandfather died

Fantastic book which clearly elucidates the basic and vital information for Buddhist practitioners to benefit those who are dying or recently deceased as well as essential advice of Buddha concerning preparing our mind for death by practicing the Five Forces, accumlating virtue, abandonibg delusion and so forth. These practices are meant to be integrated into our daily lives as we practice Dharma so that when the time of death finally arrives we will be prepared.

This practice derives from the special presentation found in the Six Yogas of Naropa and this practice is derived from the lineage of these instuctions which passed through Je Tsongkapa, as Geshe Kelsang states in the book.

On a personal note, before, during and after my grandfather's death I was able to perform the included sadhanas, or prayers for the accomplishment of spiritual attainment, for him. I felt like I was repaying a small amount of the kindness he had shown me during the times when our lives overlapped. Also, my grandfather's death mirrored the process described in the book quite closely. That made me think!

His vain pursuit of six provincial beauties is the basis of these stories, set during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. To win over these girls, Danny does their homework, sets up elaborate schemes to be alone with them, even engages in modest anti-Nazi action. But things always go wronga girl's father interferes, the courted girls gang up on him, he is upstaged by a less notorious young manand he is left with only his music as consolation. While Danny's erotic pursuits are at times humorous and his adolescent wistfulness is captured accurately, this is a minor work of the acclaimed Czech emigre author of Engineer of Human Souls ( LJ 7/84). The book of loving

The Swell Season is one of the loveliest books I have ever read. It is the story of a young man searching for intimacy with the lovely young female friends of his small hometown during the Nazi occupation of Chekovslovakia. The young girls listen to his lovely musical overtures, but they never give in. Danny loves them, is fascinated by them, and he never fails to tell them this. But he never seems to be able to convince them to yield to him. But they all want to be loved by him. They revel in his love letters. They are jealous when he seems to favor others. He is there perfect lover...pure...and never to be had.

Fascinating

This is not a typical I-went-here-and-found-this travel book. It focuses heavily on wildlife, especially the author's underwater adventures. It not only describes the country and its people and cuisine, but interesting tidbits, for example, about medicines found in the forests (or underwater) there.
I just finished this book and found every chapter interesting. The author goes to places she describes as "unpronounceable, unknown and virtually unreachable." The chronicle of her voyages is compulsively readable and you look forward to her next venture, say to Kapingamarangi, and sharing it with her.
I also enjoyed the photos and quotes about travel.

We have both books and they are word for word the same. So, don't do the buy as a bundle thing.

Product was received for free in exchange of my honest opinion. When it comes to books and test I am pretty careful to give reviews. Let me show you some photos of the content of the book, the structure, the authors and the overview. The structure is of a good study book. The content is precise and very organized. The paragraphs are short and they mention the most important things. It is perfect to study because it helps you learn the most important in a logical way.

Some good info but many better options available

It was the least helpful and most confusing of the study guides I purchased. Some good info but many better options available. Most frustrating section was the math. It explained many concepts well but explained very little upper level math...But the Included practice test suddenly included Lots of higher level math!!! So confusing...wouldn't recommend
