About the Author
Environmentalist, conservationist, underwater adventurer, explorer: Judy Schrafft’s interests include every facet of the physical world. Schrafft has dived the world’s oceans since her scuba certification in 1970, and in between has pursued her passion for archaeology and antiquity in desert environments worldwide. She joined the prestigious Explorers Club in 1983, has carried the club’s flag on four expeditions described in Visa Required, and in 1987 was made a Fellow of the club. She lives in Palm Beach, Florida.

Fascinating

This is not a typical I-went-here-and-found-this travel book. It focuses heavily on wildlife, especially the author's underwater adventures. It not only describes the country and its people and cuisine, but interesting tidbits, for example, about medicines found in the forests (or underwater) there.
I just finished this book and found every chapter interesting. The author goes to places she describes as "unpronounceable, unknown and virtually unreachable." The chronicle of her voyages is compulsively readable and you look forward to her next venture, say to Kapingamarangi, and sharing it with her.
I also enjoyed the photos and quotes about travel.

An inspiring story of a woman's search for knowledge about our world

Each chapter tells of a new adventure to a distant spot on our planet that most of never knew existed.
It is not just the well told stories of diving in far off places, but the idea that a person would devote themselves to this pursuit is unique and inspiring.
